File Checksum Calculator
Hash original local file bytes with SHA-256, SHA-384 or SHA-512 and compare an expected hexadecimal digest without uploading.
Your inputs stay in your browser. One file, maximum 100 MiB. Empty files are valid. Whole-file browser SHA hashing is not streaming and has no measured progress. File bytes, names and expected checksums stay local; refreshing clears everything.

How to use File Checksum Calculator
Select or drop one file, choose the algorithm and Compute explicitly. Selection alone reads no bytes. Paste an optional trusted expected hexadecimal digest; comparison can be changed without rereading the file. Copy the lowercase digest or download the JSON report with escaped filename and exact byte count.
Worked example
The UTF-8 abc example is exactly three bytes. SHA-256 is ba7816bf8f01cfea414140de5dae2223b00361a396177a9cb410ff61f20015ad. Empty files are valid; adding a newline changes the digest.
Rules and limits
Maximum 100 MiB, including binary files. Browser SHA is a whole-file, non-streaming API with indeterminate progress. Cancel terminates the worker; file/algorithm changes invalidate the digest. Expected input is trimmed and case-normalized only: 64/96/128 hex characters respectively, without internal spaces or prefixes. Equality checks bytes, not publisher trust, malware safety or signature authenticity.
