Image Cropper

Choose an exact image region or aspect ratio, preview it, and download a native-resolution crop.

Your images are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded.

JPG, PNG or still WebP · 20 MiB · 25 megapixels · 8,192 px per edge

How to crop an image

  1. Choose one JPG, PNG or still WebP. The preview and dimensions include the image's orientation.
  2. Drag the crop rectangle and its corners, select a ratio, or enter the exact X, Y, Width and Height.
  3. Choose an output format and press Crop and download to create the encoded preview.
  4. Review the result and actual file size, then download your cropped image.

Exact pixels, no resizing

A centred square crop of a 4,000 × 3,000 image starts at X=500, Y=0 and exports 3,000 × 3,000 pixels. Ratio changes choose the largest exact-ratio rectangle around the previous crop centre, clamped to the image. Reset returns to the full image in Freeform mode.

Changing the crop, ratio or export options clears the previous result. This first release crops one rectangular region: it does not rotate, flip, resize, detect subjects, remove backgrounds or process batches.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded or saved?

No. Image decoding, cropping and encoding happen in your browser. This tool does not upload or persist images; leaving or reloading the page clears the selection.

Can I crop without dragging?

Yes. Enter X, Y, Width and Height in source pixels, then use Crop and download. You can also focus the crop box and use arrow keys to move one pixel, or Shift plus arrow to move ten pixels.

How do exact aspect ratios work?

Ratios are reduced to integer terms. For 16:9, sizes are 16×9, 32×18 and so on. A typed width or height rounds down to a multiple of its ratio term on blur or Enter, with a minimum of one unit; the other dimension updates. Invalid or out-of-bounds entries block processing.

Does cropping resize my image?

No. The output keeps the selected area's native pixel dimensions. A 200×100 source-pixel crop exports at exactly 200×100 pixels. Only the editing preview is scaled.

What happens to transparency and metadata?

PNG and WebP preserve transparency. JPG fills transparent pixels with your chosen solid background, white by default. Browser re-encoding does not preserve original metadata and can change colour-profile rendering; this is not an archival workflow.

Which files can I use?

One JPEG, static PNG or static WebP, up to 20 MiB, 25 megapixels and 8,192 pixels on either edge. Animated PNG/WebP, GIF, SVG, HEIC, AVIF, damaged files and unusual JPEG encodings are rejected. Browser resource limits can require a smaller image.
